Gaurav Vaz

My musical career started with ‘Phenom’, my first proper “band” back in college! I started with the rhythm guitar and then moved on to the bass guitar while involving myself in song writing, production and band management.

I currently play with “The Raghu Dixit Project” (http://raghudixit.com), an Indo-World-Folk- Rock band with a very fresh and original sound. We released our self- titled debut album 2 years back and were in the music charts for a major part of the year with that album. I have played over a 150 concerts with the band over the past 5 years and have toured over 7 countries with them. We are one of the few bands in India currently signed on to a full fledged International Artiste Management company.

I also play for a band called ‘Allegro Fudge’, a contemporary acoustic band that is in the process of recording its debut album. We were featured in the Broadjam Top 10 Asian Indie bands list in 2008-09 and also were finalists at the TFA (Toto Funds the Arts) music awards held in India this year.

I am the music director for the annual CAUSE Foundation musicals that are staged in Bangalore with live music and acting. Previous productions that I have played for include “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “All Shook Up”.

I play as a sessions bass guitarist for various radio and corporate jingles and have worked extensively with Raghu Dixit Productions. I recently played for Raghu’s debut Kannada movie score ‘Psycho’ which was a raging hit it the Kannada Film Industry.

Other than music playing, I am very interested in the promotion and publicity of Indian indie music and do a lot of work in that regard. I am the co-founder of “RadioVeRVe’, an online radio station that plays only Indian indie music.
