Lillian Zachariah
Lillian is the director of the Nathaniel School of Music. As the daughter of Walter Satyaraj Nathaniel (see About), Lillian was born into a strong heritage of musical performance and education. She received her early grounding under the tutelage of Walter Nathaniel, Edgar and Marion Fewkes before moving on to complete her music exams with both the Trinity School of Music and the Royal School of Music. Thereafter, Lillian has had a long tenure training many young aspirants for these demanding examinations, with a perfect track record of success. By far NSM's most experienced faculty member, she has taught students all over the world, with some of them even making successful careers on Broadway. Apart from teaching voice, Lillian is an accomplished pianist and one of the few professional pipe organ players in the country, having trained for this particularly challenging instrument over a special program in Germany. Her augmented choirs of more than 150 singers have drawn accolades for being able to successfully tackle a range of material from Broadway musicals to intense Western classical composers. As a composer, Lillian has arranged and penned pieces in various styles, for settings as diverse as school functions and Christmas festivities. Her influences range from Mozart to The Beatles.
