Do you offer Certificate courses and are you affiliated with any exam boards like Trinity or ABRSM?
Yes! Music Method is a graded-certificate course which is offered by our music school, Nathaniel School of Music. We are not affiliated with other boards primarily because our syllabus is unique to the goals at Nathaniel and we are very happy with our tried and tested structure which we've successfully implemented for over 12 years now! However, the education we offer will allow you to take up those exams on your own or with the additional help of our mentors
How do you handle classes for children?
Your child can definitely take up our flagship course, "Music Method" which is recommended for all age groups and works at convenient "after-school", "early morning" or "weekend" slots. However, if you'd like "private" classes, you can book this with us separately and we will arrange this for you. Our flagship course (4-months) includes regular assignments, tests, and homework and is designed for children 8 years and above. For younger kids, you can consider private lessons between 30 & 45 minutes duration at your convenience

I don't have any musical background / My age may not be cut out for learning music / I'm an absolute beginner
Music is ageless. We don't discriminate on age. Whether you're 6 or 60, it's never too early or too late to start!
There are only two requirements if you want to study at Nathaniel. 1. Love music 2. Desire to learn music
If you meet these requirements, then congratulations. You are admitted! We'll take care of the rest.
As long as you follow the process, do your assignments/homework and reach out to your teacher with respect to doubts, you will be fine.
Music is an art form but is also a skill like a "sport" or any other. As long as you have the passion and practice well, you will be sure to excel
Will I get a discount on the course fee if two or more people join the course?
Yeah! Get your friends to join with you, and we'll give you a discount.
What are the class timings?
We have convenient class timings for working professionals and students. Classes are usually during early mornings and evenings. And if weekdays are just not possible, we also have weekend batches available!
How many levels of my chosen instrument can I take up?
Infinite! For 2 reasons:
-
Our teachers can keep inspiring you for as long as you want to learn at Nathaniel
-
Music is an ever-growing field and is ever-learning. Think of it as a "Gym" of sorts. You can keep getting better!
However, you will be sure to get great results even after your first 6-month cycle at Nathaniel
How do I know if I'm an Intermediate student for Piano?
* Are you aware of your Major & Minor chords with all their inversions (root, 1st, 2nd)?
* Would you confidently know the intervals from any root? For example, the minor 6th from G is Eb
* Can you independently play a Melody in the Right Hand with at least 3-5 rhythm patterns in the Left Hand using Broken chords & Arpeggios?
* Are you confident with shifting triads from one to the other using inversions?
* Given a melody on a particular scale, for example, G major, can you convincingly transpose that tune to multiple scales "on the fly"?
* Can you sing a song or section of a piece with at least 3-5 accompaniment patterns on the Piano with the proper shifting of chords?
* Is C major your only confident scale or are you equally fine with any of the 12 keys?
* Do you know the notes of all your triads by memory? For example, is Eb major EbGBb?
