Piano Hand Independence (Rhythmic)

Support us on Patreon for a PDF file containing Jason’s handwritten notes lessons for "Piano Hand Independence". Along with this file, you will also gain access to ALL the content which we put out regularly on our YouTube channel: https://www.patreon.com/jasonzac Here's a set of exercises that will help you work on your left and right-hand independence on the piano using a dance (EDM style) rhythm pattern. The idea is to focus on the "bossa nova clave", a popular Afro-Cuban pattern in one hand, while focussing on maintaining a steady pulse with the other hand. You can really challenge your independence when you bring them together! The Left-hand plays the Pulse and arpeggios and the right-hand plays the clave. After this, we flip the hands and do the opposite! Lesson flow: 01:21 - The Chord Progression Explained - Bm D F#m E 02:44 - Building Independence with the “body”, “voice” and a simple hand ratio 1:4 04:57 - “Bossa Clave” 1/16th note Pattern (Pop Clave) with Pulse 08:42 - Left-Hand plays Pulse with Root Octave together, “Toggle” & Arpeggios 14:05 - Spread Voicing in the left hand 15:16 - Flipping the role of both hands - RH Pulse & LH “Bossa Clave” 18:18 - Summary & Revision
